How Arsenal could line up against Bayern Munich

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Arsenal could line up for Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Bayern Munich.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should only be working around one injured troop for Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Bayern Munich at the Emirates.

The Gunners will compete in the last eight of Europe's premier tournament for the first time since 2009-10 this week, where Jurrien Timber (ACL) will watch on from the sidelines.

However, the Dutchman is expected to be Arsenal's solitary concern for the opening tie with the German champions, as Bukayo Saka fought off a knock to start and score against Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend.

The 22-year-old admitted after the match that he was "struggling" as he came off just after the hour, but there is nothing to suggest that he will not be given the green light to line up against Thomas Tuchel's side.

As a result, Saka ought to reprise his regular right-wing role alongside Kai Havertz, who registered a goal and assist at the weekend to prolong his purple patch, while Gabriel Martinelli - now fully recovered from a foot issue - is primed to return to the XI in place of Leandro Trossard.

Havertz and Declan Rice will both miss the second leg if they pick up yellow cards on Tuesday, but the pair are guaranteed to feature from the first whistle, the latter as part of a midfield trio with Martin Odegaard and Jorginho.

David Raya - Arsenal's penalty saviour against Porto with two stops from 12 yards - will be protected by Ben White, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes as ever, but Oleksandr Zinchenko could cede his spot to the more defensively astute Takehiro Tomiyasu, linked with a move to Bayern before extending his Arsenal contract.

Arsenal possible starting lineup:
Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu; Odegaard, Jorginho, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli
