Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Arsenal

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League London derby with Arsenal.

Chelsea will be out to avoid a third successive Premier League defeat against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge when they play host to the Gunners in Sunday's London derby.

Graham Potter returned to Brighton & Hove Albion's Amex Stadium last weekend for the first time since his departure, and it was a miserable trip for the Blues boss, whose side slumped to a 4-1 defeat.

That result leaves Chelsea sixth in the Premier League table - three points off the top four with a game in hand on Newcastle United - but they returned to winning ways with a 2-1 Champions League success over Dinamo Zagreb in midweek.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Arsenal, who sit two points clear at the top of the table.

Ben Chilwell

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Chelsea and England's injury problems worsened against Dinamo Zagreb as left-back Ben Chilwell came off with a hamstring injury, and the issue could reportedly be serious enough to keep him out of the World Cup.

N'Golo Kante

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: February 18 (vs. Southampton)

N'Golo Kante continues to rehabilitate after undergoing thigh surgery earlier this autumn, and the Frenchman is not expected to return to competitive action until February at the earliest.

Wesley Fofana

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Wesley Fofana remains on the sidelines with the serious knee injury that he sustained against AC Milan, and the defender is also expected to remain out until after the World Cup.

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

Kepa Arrizabalaga picked up a foot injury in the defeat to Brighton and was not involved against Dinamo Zagreb. The Spaniard has been Potter's first-choice goalkeeper in recent weeks, but he is confirmed to be missing this game.

Reece James

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Reece James is still recovering from the knee injury that he picked up against AC Milan at San Siro last month, and he is highly unlikely to force his way into England's World Cup plans.

Mateo Kovacic

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: November 6 (vs. Arsenal)

Mateo Kovacic was unavailable for the meeting with Dinamo Zagreb due to a tight calf muscle, but the Croatian will aim to recover in time for the London derby.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for this match.
