Arsenal have confirmed that Jack Wilshere will not travel with the squad for a pre-season trip to Scandinavia due to a knee injury.
Manager Arsene Wenger played down the severity of the midfielder's problem, recently describing it as a "slight" issue.
The Frenchman was hopeful that Wilshere would be available for games against Viking FK and Manchester City in Norway and Sweden respectively, but it has now been confirmed that the 24-year-old will stay at home.
Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey return to the squad following extended breaks, and both are expected to make their first appearances of pre-season in the coming days.
Sanchez was given extra time off for helping Chile win the Copa America, while Ramsey had a lengthier holiday after reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2016 with Wales.
Gabriel Paulista is also part of the squad after recovering from tonsillitis, but Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Mesut Ozil will not join up with their teammates until next week.
Arsenal will begin their Premier League campaign on August 14 with a home clash against Liverpool.
