Arsenal squandered a one-goal lead but recovered in the second half to beat North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners trailed at the interval through an Eric Dier header and Harry Kane penalty after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had edged them in front from the spot.
After making a couple of changes at the break, Unai Emery saw his side net three goals in the final 35 minutes through Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira.

Hello and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of the Premier League meeting between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium. We are often told to throw the form book out of the window for local derbies such as this, but both sides are in impressive form anyway and head into this game on a high. For the Gunners, they are unbeaten in 11 top-flight games, yet they still find themselves three points below Spurs.
Spurs have themselves been in fine form of late, winning six matches in a row in all competitions, including victories over Chelsea and Inter Milan over the past eight days. Something has to give this afternoon, although it could end in a draw and everyone - I think? - will go home happy. This is the second of three huge matches in the Premier League today - fingers cross it will be the pick of the bunch!

Some big team news as far as Arsenal are concerned as there is no Mesut Ozil in the matchday squad and Alexandre Lacazette is only on the bench. It is the same XI that started the 2-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend, though many expected those two players to return to the fold this afternoon. Word is that Ozil, accused of lacking the physicality required for certain away matches by his manager, is out with a back spasm.
In terms of the formation, I have this down as the same 3-4-2-1 setup that we saw at the Vitality Stadium last weekend. Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Rob Holding will continue to operate in a three-man backline, meaning that Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin have licence to power forward down the flanks. Additional defensive support will be provided by Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is given the nod ahead of Alexandre Lacazette, who again has to settle for a place among the subs. The Gabonese striker has scored from each of his last eight shots on target in the Premier League, with West Ham United's Lukasz Fabianski the last goalkeeper to keep out one of his attempts back in the opening month of the season. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, so ineffective this term, will partner Alex Iwobi in attacking midfield.

Tottenham show one change from their 2-1 win over Chelsea last weekend, with Toby Alderweireld being replaced by fit-again compatriot Jan Vertonghen. Juan Foyth has settled well since making his Premier League bow last month, and he is deemed worthy of a starting spot in the heart of defence after missing the Inter Milan tie in midweek due to ineligibility. Serge Aurier and Ben Davies continue at full-back.
Danny Rose is back among the subs for Tottenham this afternoon following another spell on the sidelines, but Kieran Trippier remains absent and Erik Lamela is also not included in the squad because of a thigh strain. Son Heung-min is preferred to Lucas Moura in attacking midfield, alongside in-form duo Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, the latter of whom has been managing an abdominal injury in recent weeks.
No surprise to see Harry Kane lead the line for Tottenham this afternoon, as he has scored seven goals in seven Premier League meetings with Arsenal, only failing to find the back of the net in this corresponding fixture last season. The England international is now one shy of equalling the record for the most North London derby goals in the Premier League era, which is currently held by Emmanuel Adebayor.
The big team news is that Mesut Ozil is left out of Arsenal's matchday squad altogether, a week on from being benched against Bournemouth. The Gunners have confirmed in the last five minutes that the German playmaker misses out today after sustaining a back injury in training earlier in the week. The hosts are therefore unchanged, while Tottenham Hotspur make one alteration from their last Premier League outing.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS! Arsenal defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium last season, but that is their only win in this fixture in eight attempts, four of those ending all square. Spurs have only picked up victory on one of their last 25 top-flight visits to this part of North London, however, with that solitary success coming in a 3-1 win here in 2010.
Arsenal head into this match sitting fifth in the Premier League table, one point adrift of Chelsea - soon to become four as the Blues lead Fulham in the day's early kickoff - and three behind Tottenham. A victory for the Gunners would therefore lift them above their great rivals into a top-four spot on goal difference. If that is not incentive enough to pick up all three points today then I'm not sure what is.
The Gunners are now unbeaten in 11 league matches since starting their campaign with back-to-back defeats. Many had completely written Arsenal off following those early-season losses to Manchester City and Chelsea, but they responded in style by winning seven in a row - albeit against some weak opposition - before playing out three draws in a row before the international break to halt their momentum.
On the back of those draws with Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers, last week's 2-1 win at Bournemouth came at just the right time. That victory left Arsenal in fifth place, which is pretty much par for the course in Unai Emery's first campaign at the helm. Finishing inside the top four, and thus returning to the Champions League, is now very much the aim for all involved with Arsenal.
Arsenal have taken 27 points from the last 33 on offer since the end of August, while also going 18 matches without defeat when taking all competitions into account, winning 13 of those. The straightforward win over Vorskla Poltava in midweek, when fielding a team of largely inexperienced players, ensured that the Gunners secured top spot in their Europa League group with a match to spare.
This is the first of nine matches for the Gunners in December as they compete on three fronts. The Europa League can be forgotten about for now as they are already through as group winners, meaning that focus can turn to the Premier League and EFL Cup. There is a huge showdown with today's opponents here in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup in a few weeks, as well as a trip to Manchester United next week. This really is the busiest period of the season.
Arsenal, who also play title challengers Liverpool just after Christmas, have won just three of their last 28 Premier League matches against other sides from the established top six. Fifteen of those have ended in defeat, including against Manchester City and Chelsea already this season, and there was also that entertaining draw with Liverpool more recently. Today offers the perfect chance for Emery's men to show that they have what it takes to see off the division's better sides.
Only two of Arsenal's last nine managers, including caretakers, have won their first league match against Tottenham Hotspur - Don Howe in 1983 and Arsene Wenger in 1996. On that note, this will be the first North London derby to be staged without Wenger in the Gunners' dugout in more than two decades, very much ushering in a new era for one of the continent's standout fixtures.
The Gunners are one of only two sides, along with strugglers Cardiff City, yet to have taken a lead into half time of a Premier League match this season. Arsenal have gone on to win eight of those matches, however, and would be second - two points behind Manchester City - if only the second 45 minutes of matches mattered. On the flipside, going only by first-half results, Emery's side would be down in 18th place.
Since kicking off this new era under Unai Emery with back-to-back losses against Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal have gone 18 matches unbeaten in all competitions. The Gunners are not the fastest of starters, however, and a failure to emerge quickly from the block this afternoon could well prove costly against one of the continent's most in-form sides.
DID YOU KNOW? Tottenham Hotspur have dropped 37 points from winning positions against Arsenal in the Premier League - the worst record of any club against a single opponent. The Gunners, meanwhile, have scored in each of their last 22 home matches in this fixture in all competitions since a goalless draw at Highbury a little over 20 years ago.
Tottenham, who have slipped down to fourth place in the Premier League standings as a result of Chelsea's 2-0 win over Fulham elsewhere today, are on course to make their best ever start to a Prem season. Victory today would make it their best in terms of points accrued, while a draw would equal the 31 collected at this same stage in the 2011-12 campaign. Despite all the recent negativity, this is shaping up to be another impressive season under Mauricio Pochettino.
Six wins in a row has seen to that, with Tottenham following up a 1-0 loss to Manchester City on October 29 - a few days after a costly 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven - by seeing off all comers. They were successful in the return fixture with PSV and also edged out Inter Milan in midweek, meaning that they head to Camp Nou in a just over a week's time with hope of progressing into the knockout stage of the Champions League.
As well as turning around their European campaign, Tottenham have defeated West Ham United in the EFL Cup to set up a quarter-final with Arsenal, while also beating Huddersfield Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and, best of all, Chelsea in the Premier League. Their 3-1 victory over the Blues last weekend was just about their most rounded performance under Pochettino, setting them up nicely for the win over Inter a few days later.
What was billed as a season-defining week concludes with this tricky trip to arch-rivals Arsenal at a ground that Tottenham do not tend to come away victorious from all that often - just once in the Premier League since the Gunners moved here in 2006. The Lilywhites do have a nicer set of fixtures to look forward to after this one, as they face Southampton, Leicester City, Burnley, Everton, Bournemouth, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City between now and New Year's Day.
There are also trips to Arsenal in the EFL Cup and Barcelona in the Champions League to factor in, however, so Pochettino has plenty on his plate in the weeks leading up to the January transfer window opening. Spurs have won seven matches in a row against fellow sides from London, one short of their club-record run set between October 1950 and August 1951. This, though, could well be the toughest fixture in that run, even accounting for the Chelsea match last week.
Victory today would also see Tottenham equal a club record of six consecutive Premier League away wins, having defeated Brighton & Hove Albion, Huddersfield Town, West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace since falling to a surprise 2-1 loss at Watford in early September. Pochettino's side are showing all the hallmarks of a great team; now they need to cement their status as outside title contenders by earning a rare win on enemy territory.
MANAGERS' COMMENTS!
Unai Emery: "At the moment, Tottenham is better than us in the table and better than us last year but in history Arsenal is better at other moments that Tottenham. I think we are going to live with two [sets of] supporters and I think it will be a very good atmosphere. The first match is in our stadium and with our supporters and we want on Sunday to give them the best performance and can give them our energy and our things on the pitch to help them push us."
Mauricio Pochettino: "We have the belief and that is the most important thing in football and the faith that you can beat any team away from home. It's a special game, it's tough to play this sort of game, it means more. We know that it means to our fans this game. The players feel that and are aware what it means. We have a lot of players that have arrived to the first team from the academy and they know what it means."
Arsenal boss Emery admitted in the build-up to this match that Tottenham are the better of the two sides at this current moment in time, but the Gunners have the edge in an historical sense. Football is about the here and now, though, and Pochettino's men "have the belief" that they can come away from the Emirates Stadium with all three points. What a huge match we are in store for!
KICKOFF: Arsenal get the 196th North London derby up and running, and the first in more than 20 years without Arsene Wenger in the dugout. If you were wondering, the Gunners have come out on top in 81 of those previous encounters, compared to 63 victories for Tottenham Hotspur.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set free down the right and swings a cross into the middle towards Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. It was an awkward one for the Gabonese striker under pressure from Vertonghen, and he could only head it over the crossbar.
Arsenal have started the game on the front foot, this time attacking down Tottenham's right. The cross came into the box but it was behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, meaning some comfortable defending for the Lilywhites' centre-backs.
The home side are continuing to dictate the flow of the game, restricting the number of attacks mounted by their opponents. Still no clear-cut chances at either end, but it is the home side who are looking the brighter.
Lucas Torreira turns over possession in midfield and it is worked through for Alex Iwobi, but the winger lacked composure and struck the ball into an opposition player. The angle was against the Nigerian but he should have been doing better from there.
PENALTY! Referee Mike Dean points to the penalty spot following a handball in the box from Jan Vertonghen. Tottenham have not settled at all and that was the correct call from the official, as Vertonghen stopped Shkodran Mustafi from getting his head to Granit Xhaka's free kick.
GOAL! ARSENAL 1-0 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG)
Hugo Lloris dives one way, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slots the ball the other. A composed penalty from the striker, giving Arsenal a lead that their early dominance in this match probably deserves.
SAVE! The ball is flicked over the top of Arsenal's backline and the hosts are in trouble. Son Heung-min charges towards goal and gets a shot away, which Bernd Leno is equal to at his near post. Tottenham's first sight of goal and they nearly made the most of it.
CHANCE! Barely had a chance to breathe in these opening 15 minutes - great game! Sead Kolasinac is played in on the overlap and plays the ball just out of Pierre-Emerick Aunameyang's reach, with the striker unable to make contact from a few yards out.
Good opportunities at both ends of the field since that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opener, which neither side could make the most of. It has been an enthralling start to the contest - hopefully it continues in this manner for the remainder.
Arsenal's players, Hector Bellerin in particular, were keen to wind up the Tottenham fans after opening the scoring. This game, as expected, has an edge to it and could really boil over should Spurs bag a leveller.
SAVE! Tottenham caught completely off guard by a free kick and Alex Iwobi was picked out unmarked eight yards from goal. A good save from Hugo Lloris down low, and less than a minute later Hector Bellerin's shot is blocked right in front of goal.
Arsenal should have been taking one of those previous chances, which fell to Alex Iwobi and Hector Bellerin. Lucas Torreira also fired wide from 25 yards when the ball fell kindly to him. Tottenham are not looking comfortable at all, it must be said.
Dele Alli picks up the ball in space and so nearly slides it through for Christian Eriksen. Some good covering at the back prevented the Dane from bursting in on goal. Tottenham finally showing some signs that they are ready to grow into the match.
SAVE! Some brilliant play from Son Heung-min, taking the ball past a couple of men and then forcing a save out of Bernd Leno down low. Tottenham have been far from their best but they have had a couple of promising moments in this gripping game.
Yet another promising moment for Tottenham. Henrikh Mkhitaryan slips on the edge of his own box and Son Heung-min mounts a counter-attack. Using Christian Eriksen's run as a decoy, the South Korean wants to take the shot on, but instead laid it off for Moussa Sissoko. Rather than shooting, the Frenchman chipped the ball into the box for Bernd Leno to gather.
As entertaining as the opening half an hour of this match has been, it surely cannot continue in this manner. It is end-to-end, with Tottenham starting to do enough over the last 10 minutes to warrant an equaliser.

It's all kicking off at the Emirates Stadium! Christian Eriksen dipped a free kick towards the near post and Eric Dier swooped in to glance it past Bernd Leno, who should have been doing better. Dier did not hold back with his celebrations, telling the home fans to be quiet, sparking a 30-man melee.
PENALTY! What a game!! Mike Dean points to the spot for a second time today, this time awarding Tottenham a penalty. Son Heung-min was about to get a shot away when Rob Holding lunged in - a poor challenge, leaving Dean with little choice.
GOAL! ARSENAL 1-2 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (HARRY KANE, PEN)
Eight in eight North London derbies for Harry Kane, as he emphatically thumps the penalty past Bernd Leno. Talk about turning the game on its head - Tottenham, a goal down four minutes ago, are now in front on enemy territory.
Finally a chance to discuss that melee after Eric Dier's leveller. A few Arsenal players warming up in the corner that Dier ran to were unhappy with the celebrations, sparking a mass coming together that involved members of both sides' coaching staff.
Rob Holding is still shaking his head. It was a poor decision from centre-back to lunge in on Son Heung-min, who was always going to go down if contact was made. Harry Kane, unlike Holding before him, kept his cool at a time when things had boiled over.
Mike Dean is having a real task keeping this game under control. It has been a great watch for the neutral, with both sets of players giving absolutely everything on the field. Spurs lead with half time now five minutes away.
Things have finally started to settle down over the past few minutes. Arsenal are seeing more of the ball but that suits Tottenham just fine, as they thrive on the counter. This game has more goals in it.
The ball is squared to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang six yards from goal, but he picked out Hugo Lloris right down the middle with his shot. Thankfully for the Arsenal striker, the offside flag had correctly gone up. Big miss!
We are into the first of three added-on minutes at the end of this gripping first half in North London. Arsenal are knocking on the door for a leveller, but they could not keep the ball on target when a corner dropped inside the box.
SAVE! Another corner won by Arsenal, which Shkodran Mustafi got his head to. The defender had a lot to do, but if not for a save from Hugo Lloris that would have dipped under the crossbar. So close to a leveller!

Arsenal go into the break a goal down after throwing away a 10th-minute lead. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had converted from the spot to open the scoring in what has been a thrilling North London derby, before Eric Dier headed in an equaliser and Harry Kane tucked home a pen of his own. Let us hope the next 45 minutes are just as entertaining!
The hosts were in front inside 10 minutes thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's successfully-converted penalty, awarded after Jan Vertonghen - making his first Prem start in more than two months - handled Granit Xhaka's free-kick delivery. That was a just reward for Arsenal following a fast-paced start to the match, but they failed to add to their lead as Aubameyang could not get a touch to Sead Kolasinac's cross and Alex Iwobi shot right at Hugo Lloris seven yards out.

The match barely settled down in the remainder of the first half, with Arsenal coming closest to scoring the game's fourth goal through a dipping Kolasinac header that needed pushing over the bar.

Bernd Leno has looked pretty poor today. The German keeper comes out to punch Christian Eriksen's free kick but is beaten to it by Rob Holding, with the ball flying inches wide of the unguarded net. Tottenham are pushing for a third goal.

SAVE! Not a bad attempt from Harry Kane at all from that free kick, testing Bernd Leno with his dipping effort. Tottenham have been the better side in the opening seven minutes of the second period, but Aaron Ramsey nearly slipped through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a few moments ago.
Arsenal are struggling to handle Tottenham's attacking players at the moment. Dele Alli could not get the shot away, nor could Christian Eriksen, and this latest Spurs attack ended when Moussa Dembele fouled an Arsenal player on the edge of the box.
The tempo of the match appears to have dropped over the past couple of minutes. The onus is on Arsenal to score the next goal, but Tottenham have the advantage of having three subs still available to make should they wish. Some fresh legs may be needed soon.

From pretty much nowhere, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fires Arsenal level with a stunning strike! Aaron Ramsey made a positive run in behind, flicked the ball into the path of Aubameyang and the Gabonese did the rest with a first-time bullet past Hugo Lloris from 20 yards.
A game of the season contender on our hands at the Emirates Stadium, and it is far from over! This is as good as atmosphere as I have heard at this ground, with the home fans really getting behind their players - they want more than a point.
OFF THE LINE! It's Tottenham's turn to look nervous now as they attempt to hold off the Arsenal onslaught. Shkodran Mustafi gets a touch on the corner and Dele Alli is in the right place to stop it on the line. Lucas Torreira then hammed the rebound agonisingly wide.
This has been a proper heavyweight tussle between two sides at the top of their game. Aaron Ramsey has made a big difference since coming on with his positive runs in behind, which Tottenham are struggling to deal with.
YELLOW CARD! A little over a quarter of the match to play and Pochettino is holding off from making a change. Dele Alli sticks out a boot to trip up Granit Xhaka - who did go down a little too easily - and picks up a yellow card from Mike Dean.
Alexandre Lacazette, operating in a wide position, sends in a good delivery that Serge Aurier did well to deal with. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could not pounce under pressure in another let-off for the visiting side.
Poor from Hector Bellerin, who gifted the ball to Son Heung-min 20 yards from goal. The South Korean attacker took on the shot early, forcing Bernd Leno into a pretty routine save. Dele Alli could not quite turn the loose ball back on goal.

That should do it! Arsenal move two goals in front of their arch-rivals through a composed finish from Lucas Torreira. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang turned provider with a through-ball for the Uruguayan, who got the better of Hugo Lloris from a tight angle.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR SUB! Lucas Torreira was cautioned for his celebration, incidentally, having taken off his shirt before running towards the corner flag. Lucas Moura and Harry Winks are on for Son Heung-min and Dele Alli.

RED CARD! Tottenham's day goes from bad to worse as Jan Vertonghen receives a second yellow card. The Belgian centre-back, cautioned earlier in the match for giving away the penalty, crunched down on Alexandre Lacazette's ankle and is sent off.
That should help settle any lingering nerves Arsenal had. They have a two-goal lead and a man advantage with just a few minutes of the game to play. Credit to both sides for producing one of the games of the season this afternoon.
YELLOW CARD! Tottenham's frustration is clear to see now. Serge Aurier got nowhere near the ball when lunging in on Rob Holding and is rightly shown a yellow card by Mike Dean. Aaron Ramsey nearly slips in Alexandre Lacazette but could not quite do so.
Six minutes have been added on at the end of this classic North London derby. A Tottenham goal in the next few minutes really would make things interesting, but it does not look as though we will get the finale the neutrals are after.
It is easy to forget, as the oles ring around the Emirates Stadium for each Arsenal pass, that Tottenham led 2-1 with a little over half an hour to play. Yet again the Gunners have come good in the second half of a Premier League match.
Five of the six added-on minutes have been played and Arsenal have not looked like letting Tottenham back into the game. The Gunners are stringing together pass after pass, with the visitors very much resigned to their fate.
