Arsenal's Jack Wilshere: 'I won't change my style of play, despite injury woes'

Arsenal star Jack Wilshere insists that he will not change his style of play, despite suffering numerous injuries in his career.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has insisted that he has no plans to change his style of play, despite suffering a number of injuries over the course of his career so far.

The England international spent over a year on the treatment table after suffering stress fractures in 2011, and he also missed a large chunk of the 2014-15 season due to a six-month layoff as a result of ankle surgery.

Wilshere has admitted that he considered adapting his game in order to prevent future injuries from occurring, but the midfielder swiftly changed his mind.

"When I was injured I heard people saying I should change the way I played," Wilshere told reporters. "I was thinking maybe they're right, maybe I should change a bit, but as soon as I can back for my first game, naturally, I wanted to pick the ball up and run with it.

"So I can't change it. I can work on a few things maybe. You look at the best dribblers in the world like Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta, and when they run with the ball the ball's always close to them. I can work on that. But I definitely won't be changing my game."

Wilshere was speaking to the press ahead of England's Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia on Sunday.
