Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has reportedly sustained a knock on international duty this week, aggravating a persistent ankle problem and leaving Gunners boss Arsene Wenger seething.
Wenger is thought to have asked England manager Roy Hodgson to use Wilshere in just one of their recent friendlies against Chile and Germany, but his requests were not followed.
Hodgson started Wilshere in the Chile game and decided that he was fresh enough to come on as a substitute three days later, featuring in a 1-0 defeat to the Germans.
The 21-year-old took a kick to his ankle in that late cameo and will need to be assessed by Arsenal club doctors this week, making him doubtful for Saturday's clash with Southampton at the Emirates, according to The Mirror.
Despite struggling with ankle trouble throughout the campaign Wilshere has still managed to be a consistent feature for the Gunners, playing 23 times for club and country in all competitions.
