Seven years ago today, Phil Jagielka kept goal for the last 30 minutes as Sheffield United overcome Arsenal 1-0 at Bramall Lane.

It would be fair to say that Christian Nade struggled to hit the ground running following his arrival at Sheffield United in the summer of 2006.

Despite scoring during a League Cup tie against Bury in September, the Frenchman still hadn't found the net in the Premier League by the time that Arsenal visited Bramall Lane on this day seven years ago.

He wasn't given much chance of breaking his duck on this occasion, particularly because the Gunners made the trip to Yorkshire unbeaten in their previous six matches, while United had won just one of their last four outings.

However, having survived an early onslaught, the hosting Blades grew into the contest and with four minutes of the first half remaining, Nade's moment arrived.

Alan Quinn picked him out and after Kolo Toure had failed to block his route to goal, the striker went on to slot the ball beyond the reach of Jens Lehmann.

It would be the only goal of the game as United claimed an unexpected win, but Nade's contribution was to be overshadowed.

With 30 minutes left to play, home goalkeeper Paddy Kenny pulled his thigh muscle in the action of kicking the ball. The problem was, when manager Neil Warnock turned to his substitutes, he hadn't included a spare keeper. It meant that centre-back Phil Jagielka had to don the gloves, with a hefty amount of time left to play.

Arsenal, though, struggled initially to call Jagielka into action as the home defence stood firm, while up the other end Quinn went close a couple of times.

The away side's opportunity arrived 10 minutes from time to the feet of Robin van Persie, who looked certain to score from close range. However, Jagielka showed smart reflexes to turn the Dutchman's powerful effort over the crossbar and with it went Arsenal's chances of salvaging a share of the spoils.

"It was probably the proudest moment since I became a manager, with the crowd and the atmosphere. They have injuries but we were decimated as well but I thought we deserved to win it," Warnock said during his post-match interview.

"A lot of the players came in and I don't worry about them, we always put everything in. We won tackles, the goal was super and the crowd were brilliant. It was a great result.

"I like having an extra forward on the bench. I didn't panic when [Jagielka] went in goal, he doesn't get worried and neither do I. It's the only chance he's got of being man of the match."
