Sports Mole

Newly-crowned Eredivisie champions Ajax round off their league campaign with a visit to the GelRedome on Sunday to face off against Vitesse.

The away side will also be looking to record a third victory over their hosts this term having already claimed 5-0 wins in the previous two meetings.

Match preview

Ajax were firing on all cylinders on Wednesday when they got the better of Heerenveen in a 5-0 thrashing at the Johan Cruyff ArenA.

Goals from Nicolas Tagliafico, Steven Berghuis, Sebastien Haller, Brian Brobbey and Edson Alvarez secured an emphatic victory for Erik ten Hag's men in Amsterdam.

As a result, De Godenzonen confirmed their status as champions of the land for the 36th time, as they now possess an unassailable four-point lead over second-place PSV Eindhoven.

Awaiting them next is the challenge of an opposing side who are yet to win any of the last nine meetings between the teams across all competitions.

Sunday's visitors head into this weekend's contest with the best away record in the entire division, while having also conceded the fewest goals on the road.

Vitesse saw off the threat of relegation-threatened Fortuna Sittard in a narrow 2-1 triumph at the Fortuna Sittard Stadion on Wednesday.

Thomas Letsch's men conceded the opening goal of the match to Paul Gladon before hitting back through strikes from Million Manhoef and Lois Openda.

Geel en Zwart remain sixth in the league table and are all but guaranteed to finish there barring an exceptional turn of events on the final day.

Having conceded the second-most goals on home turf this term, Sunday's hosts will be wary of being on the receiving end of another heavy defeat in this fixture.

Team News

With little to play for in this one, Erik ten Hag could opt to ring the changes, handing first-team opportunities to a number of fringe players in what is set to be the Dutch tactician's final game as Ajax manager.

Brian Brobbey will be amongst those pushing for a place in the starting XI after he came off the bench to good effect last time out.

Brazilian winger Antony is sidelined with an ankle problem, while Sean Klaiber and Zakaria Labyad continue to nurse knee injuries.

Once again, Vitesse will be without the services of Maximilian Wittek, who has missed the last four matches through a muscle injury,

Lois Openda has scored three goals in his last three outings for the home side, making the 22-year-old one to keep an eye on.

Vitesse possible starting lineup:
Schubert; Hajek, Doekhi, Bazoer; Manhoef, Tronstad, Bero, Domgjoni, Dasa; Openda, Grbic

Ajax possible starting lineup:
Stekelenburg; Tagliafico, Timber, Blind, Rensch; Daramy, Kudus, Alvarez; Brobbey, Haller, Tadic

We say: Vitesse 0-3 Ajax

Despite having already secured the league title last time out, Ajax will be keen to sign off their season in style, and we are tipping them to cruise to a comfortable victory at the end of the 90 minutes.
