Arsenal will attempt to sign Jorginho from Chelsea after missing out a deal for Lyon's Houssem Aouar, according to a report.

Arsenal have reportedly missed out on Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar but will attempt to sign Chelsea's Jorginho before the end of the transfer window.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with Aouar over the last few weeks, but the Premier League club are allegedly now unlikely to sign the Frenchman.

According to French journalist Julien Laurens, Mikel Arteta's side will be unable to bring the Lyon midfielder to the Emirates Stadium before Monday's transfer deadline.

However, Laurens claims that the London outfit are looking to secure a deal for Jorginho.

The 28-year-old has made an impressive start to the season for Chelsea, scoring three times in four appearances, including a brace against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Italy international could allegedly be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge in the latter stages of the window, though, and Arsenal are said to be attempting to secure his signature. body check tags ::
