Newcastle United are reportedly tracking the progress of Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron ahead of a possible January move.
The Paraguay international has scored 13 goals and created 13 more to help his side to the MLS Cup final this season, where they will face New York Red Bulls.
Almiron's form is understood to have caught the attention of a number of Premier League clubs, and his agent was at St James' Park last weekend to watch Newcastle's 2-1 win over Bournemouth.
Chronicle Live reports that the Magpies are yet to open talks with Almiron but have registered their interest and asked to be kept updated with his situation.
Rafael Benitez is thought to be in the market for a new winger when the transfer window reopens, and Almiron is able to play either out wide or in attacking midfield.
Newcastle could face competition for the 24-year-old's signature, though, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also credited with an interest.
