Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Lyden has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the West Midlands club until 2019.
The 20-year-old Australian had entered the final 12 months of his previous contract at Villa Park and would have been able to leave on a free transfer next summer.
Lyden told the official club website: "I'm really happy to have signed a contract extension. It's great that the manager has got faith in me and sees me as part of the future.
"I've loved my time here so far and I know that this is the best place for me to continue my development.
It's an exciting time to be at the club too. There's a great groups of lads here and the coaching staff have been brilliant with me. I want to help the club get back into the Premier League."
Lyden was signed from Western Australian side ECU Joondalup as a teenager and has risen through the ranks at Villa, making four first-team appearances to date.
