Aston Villa have agreed personal terms with Feyenoord defender Ron Vlaar.
Vlaar, 27, has reportedly agreed a three-year deal with the Premier League club and is expected to travel to Birmingham to complete his medical next week.
A deal between the two parties looked to have fallen through after talks stalled ahead of Villa's pre-season tour to the United States.
The Netherlands international becomes Paul Lambert's second defensive signing of the summer, following Sheffield United's Matthew Lowton to Villa Park.
Vlaar has made 133 senior appearances in his career since making his debut for AZ Alkmaar in 2004.
