Italian police have arrested 17 people, including former international Cristiano Doni, in connection with a match-fixing and betting investigation.
The arrests have been carried out over the past couple of days in several cities across Italy.
Those involved are believed to have attempted to fix the outcome of a number of matches, including Napoli's 4-0 win over Sampdoria earlier this year.
"This is not the end - just a starting point," said Cremona prosecutor Roberto Di Martino. "Let's hope it's a starting point in cleaning up the beautiful game that is football."
Doni, who currently plays for Atalanta, represented Italy at the 2002 World Cup.
