Atalanta BC survived the second-half dismissal of Carlos Carmona to share a goalless draw with Udinese in their Serie A match this afternoon.
The hosts came close to taking an early lead when German Denis met Alejandro Gomez's free kick and saw his header saved by Orestis Karnezis.
Moments later, it was Udinese who almost broke the deadlock, but Silvan Widmer crashed a strike against the post after latching onto Guilherme's threaded pass.
As the game moved past the hour mark, Denis had another chance for the hosts with a header that went straight into the keeper's arms.
Atalanta looked the more likely team to find the net and Gomez forced another save from Karnezis with his low strike.
However, their hopes of winning the match took a blow in the 76th minute when Carmona was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Allan.
Udinese almost made their opponents pay with five minutes left as Widmer headed just wide from Ivan Piris's cross, but that proved to be the last chance of the match as both teams were forced to settle for a point.
