Roma and Atletico Madrid have played out a goalless draw in Tuesday night's Champions League Group C clash at the Stadio Olimpico.
The visitors were first to threaten when, three minutes in, Saul Niguez collected a pass and managed to hold off his marker, but his effort from mid-range swerved inches past the left post.
Roma, however, weighed in with a number of dangerous chances midway through the first half, with Radja Nainggolan rifling a powerful first-time effort which Jan Oblak kept out to his bottom-right corner.
In the 37th minute, a simple pass from Kevin Strootman left Edin Dzeko with just the keeper to beat inside the box, but his shot went agonisingly just past the left post.
Neither side was able to make the breakthrough in the first half, but Diego Simeone's charges turned up the pressure after the restart, weighing in with a total of 21 efforts, 10 of which were on target.
Despite their dominance, however, they were unable to breach the opposition defence, though they came closest in injury time when Niguez rattled an effort against the woodwork.
