Atletico Madrid are on course to extend their unbeaten run in La Liga to seven matches after earning a 2-0 lead in the first half of their meeting with Real Sociedad at the Vicente Calderon.
It was the perfect start for Atletico as they broke the deadlock in the second minute when Koke's corner was inadvertently headed in by Sociedad defender Mikel Gonzalez.
Diego Simeone's side doubled their advantage when Geronimo Rulli could only push a Koke effort into the path of Antoine Griezmann, who collected the loose ball before finishing from close range against his former club.
Sociedad enjoyed a better spell following a disastrous opening 10 minutes, but they were prevented from reducing the deficit when Jan Oblak kept out Chori Castro's powerful strike.
However, Atletico remained in control of the match and came close to scoring a third when Fernando Torres headed wide from Arda Turan's inviting cross.
Koke then threatened again when his dangerous cross struck the crossbar after Rulli failed to read the flight of the delivery.
