Antoine Griezmann has handed Atletico Madrid a 1-0 half-time lead over Getafe at the Vicente Calderon.
Diego Simeone's side were ahead in just the fourth minute when poor defending from the visitors allowed Griezmann to beat the offside trap, and the Frenchman capitalised to slot home from Gabi's chipped ball.
Getafe recovered quickly from the early setback, but Atletico looked the sharper of the two sides in possession and they continued to ask questions of the away side.
Despite looking comfortable, Atletico found it difficult to break down a stubborn Getafe defence for a second time, with Oliver Torres seeing plenty of possession on the edge of the box.
Stefan Scepovic twice threatened to score an equaliser prior to the interval when he headed into the side-netting, before he fired straight at Jan Oblak after being put through by a defensive error.
