Atletico Madrid have closed the gap to just six points on league leaders Barcelona courtesy of a 2-0 win over Getafe, with goals coming from Fernando Torres and Tiago.
Torres broke the deadlock three minutes after the kickoff, as the Spaniard headed in Koke's free kick to give the hosts the perfect start.
After several missed chances throughout the first half, Tiago doubled Atletico's lead from another free kick to give them a two-goal advantage going into the break.
Tiago had the chance to grab his second of the match from three yards but managed to put the ball wide, with the phase of play flagged for offside.
The visitors had spells of possession but failed to make any notable chances from their time with the ball.
However, Atletico took control of the match in the last 10 minutes, stopping anything from reaching their box but only having half-chances themselves.
The two first-half goals from Torres and Tiago did the damage, as Atletico held on to win the game 2-0 in the Madrid derby.
