Augsburg have beaten Werder Bremen 3-1 to continue their fine run of form in the Bundesliga.
The away side got off to the perfect start. Having won a corner, Sebastian Prodl challenged Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker for the ball and it went in off the Augsburg man.
The hosts were almost level just a few minutes later, as Tobias Werner's free kick struck the upright before Halil Altintop fired the rebound over the bar.
They did not have to wait much longer for the equaliser, however, as Werner found the back of the net with a low set piece.
Matthias Ostrzolek could have put the hosts in front in a frantic opening 20 minutes, but his effort was well kept out by Raphael Wolf.
It continued to be one-way traffic, but Augsburg could not get ahead by the break. However, their chances improved when a second yellow card saw Santiago Garcia sent off.
Four minutes into the second half Altintop converted from an Andre Hahn cross to put his side in front, before the latter netted himself on 55 minutes to put his side 3-1 ahead.
From then on Augsburg were in control and were able to see out the victory.
