Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Copa del Rey showdown with Cornella on Thursday evening.

Barcelona will be aiming to put their dampening Spanish Super Cup defeat behind them when they return to action in the Copa del Rey with third-tier side Cornella on Thursday evening.

Ronald Koeman's side were close to sealing victory in the Super Cup before Athletic Bilbao's Asier Villalibre forced extra time with the scores at 2-2, and Inaki Williams scored a delightful winner for Marcelino's men as Barca walked away empty-handed.

La Blaugrana will be desperate to make an immediate return to winning ways this week, and while their Copa del Rey clash is supposedly in doubt due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Cornella camp, the game is expected to go ahead as planned.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their midweek clash with Cornella, who knocked Atletico Madrid out in the last round.

Sergino Dest

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Sergino Dest was left out of the starting lineup against Real Sociedad as a precaution and lasted 45 minutes against Athletic before being forced off with muscular discomfort. The defender's problem is not thought to be serious, but he has been left out of the squad for this game.

Philippe Coutinho

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Philippe Coutinho suffered a serious knee injury against Eibar just before the New Year and has since undergone successful surgery, meaning that he will be out for the next three months.

Sergi Roberto

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Sergi Roberto has been out since November after sustaining a muscular problem, but Koeman has revealed that the right-back - who has also fought off a bout of coronavirus - could be back in action after another couple of weeks.

Gerard Pique

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Gerard Pique is another name on the list of the Blaugrana's long-term absentees with the knee injury he suffered against Atletico Madrid on November 21, and the centre-back will remain in the treatment room for the foreseeable future.

Ansu Fati

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Teenage protege Ansu Fati had his strong start to the season cut short by a knee injury sustained in November, and Koeman has conceded that he does not know when the attacker might be able to return.

Lionel Messi

Possible return date: Unknown

Lionel Messi saw red for the first time ever in his Barcelona career for lashing out at Athletic goalscorer Villalibre in Sunday's final. The length of the Argentine's suspension is yet to be determined by the Spanish FA's disciplinary committee, but he will not be available on Thursday.
