Barcelona have revealed that Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong both suffered injuries during Wednesday's Copa del Rey contest with Linares Deportivo.
Araujo had to be replaced at the interval of the match, with the Uruguay international suffering a hand injury, while De Jong picked up a calf problem in the second half, just 29 minutes after entering the field.
Barcelona have confirmed that Araujo will need to undergo an operation on Friday after fracturing the second and third metacarpal bones in his right hand.
The Catalan giants are yet to provide a timeline on the centre-back's recovery, but he is expected to be on the sidelines for a number of weeks.
Meanwhile, a statement from the La Liga club revealed that De Jong "has strained the soleus muscle in his left calf", which will leave him on the sidelines for an unspecified period of time.
Xavi's team currently have a host of injury problems, but a number of players who recently tested positive for coronavirus could potentially be available for this weekend's league match against Granada. body check tags ::
