Cesc Fabregas is adamant that he did not exaggerate during the incident which saw Gary Medel sent off during Barcelona's dramatic 3-2 win against Sevilla.

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has reacted angrily to suggestions that he got Gary Medel sent off during an action packed match against Sevilla.

Fabregas scored twice to help Barca come from 2-0 down to claim all three points in dramatic fashion away at Sevilla on Saturday night.

The former Arsenal playmaker was involved in a contentious incident with 20 minutes to play, when Medel was dismissed for knocking Cesc over with his head.

Fabregas told reporters at the post-match press conference that the incident cannot be blamed on him.

He said: "If you want, I'll do to you what Medel did and you can tell me.

"I have been hit in the face and therefore it's a straight red card. I saw a penalty in the first half that was not given and the game balanced itself out.

"There's contact because he gets my face and in the world of football it's the intention that matters most. There's no reason to talk about it. In football these kind of plays are straight reds."

A brace from Fabregas against Sevilla ended a barren run for the the 25-year-old, who had gone eight months without a goal in La Liga.
