Marc Bartra has been called up to the Spain squad to replace his Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas, who has been forced to withdraw with a knee injury.
Fabregas picked up the injury in the latter stages of his side's 4-1 win over Real Betis on Sunday evening, with tests revealing slight damage to his right knee.
As a result, La Roja head coach Vicente del Bosque has called up centre-back Bartra, who has impressed in La Liga for the Spanish champions this season.
The 22-year-old, who is yet to gain a senior cap for Spain, will join up with the rest of the squad on Wednesday morning ahead of friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.
