Ex-Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford boss Oscar Garcia is reportedly high on the list of potential candidates for the Barcelona position, if Luis Enrique is relieved of his duties.
Enrique's role has been brought into question following a below-par start to the season, and club president Josep Bartomeu is said to have sided with star player Lionel Messi after a rumoured falling-out with the 44-year-old coach.
According to Daily Mail, Messi is said to have put forward former manager Frank Rijkaard's name as his possible replacement.
However, Garcia, who is believed to have turned down the chance to replace Andoni Zubizarreta as the Blaugrana's sporting director this week, could fit the bill to replace Enrique and is reportedly looking for his next job to be in management.
The former Seagulls boss has previously coached Barcelona's Under-19 team.
