Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino has denied reports that Spanish centre-back Carles Puyol is considering retiring from football this season.
It had been claimed that the 35-year-old was considering hanging up his boots due to a number of injury concerns in recent months, but Martino has quelled such suggestions.
"It is a surprise to me because he has not spoken to me," Martino told reporters at a press conference.
"I have seen him training normally and putting in the effort in training as required. He has not said anything to me about this and to clarify something that has not been discussed is a little unfair."
Puyol has made close to 600 appearances for the Catalan outfit.
