Barcelona are reportedly prepared to begin negotiations with Carles Puyol over a fresh contract with the Spanish giants.
The 34-year-old is due to come to the end of his current deal at the Nou Camp next summer, but it is believed that manager Pep Guardiola wants Puyol to commit the rest of his career to the Champions League winners, according to Goal.com.
Despite being an integral part of the team, the Spaniard has had an inconsistent season due to injuries throughout the campaign.
Puyol, who came through the Barcelona academy, has racked up over 500 appearances for the club.
