Barcelona midfielder Xavi believes that Victor Valdes is currently enjoying his best spell for the Catalan outfit.

The Spaniard is expected to leave Barca when his contract expires next summer, but it is understood that the club are still hopeful of agreeing fresh terms with the stopper.

"Perhaps now the value of Valdes is even greater, since he has announced that he is going, he is a great goalkeeper," Xavi told Cadena Ser.

"Victor has returned to being extraordinary, he has again proven his worth."

Valdes kept a clean sheet on Tuesday as his side beat Celtic in the Champions League.
