Barnsley have reportedly stepped forward with an opening bid of £650,000 for in-demand PEC Zwolle left-back Kenneth Paal.
The 23-year-old was previously on PSV Eindhoven's books and has been capped by the Netherlands at age-grade level.
Paal was used 27 times in the Eredivisie last season, and his performances have caught the eye of Championship clubs.
According to the Daily Mail, a number of English second-tier sides are tempted to move for the Dutchman.
However, Barnsley are said to be the only side to have so far done so, and the Tykes - who announced Markus Schopp as their new manager on Tuesday - are now waiting to hear back from Zwolle.
Paal is due to be out of contract at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
