Lille were taught a harsh finishing lesson as they suffered a shock home defeat to BATE Borisov in their Champions League Group F opener tonight.
The Ligue 1 side registered 26 shots, compared to their opponents' six, however they found themselves 3-0 down at half time courtesy of goals from Aliaksandr Volodko, Vitali Rodionov and Edgar.
Aurelien Chedjou pulled a goal back on the hour-mark but that was the only time that Lille were able to find a way past Belarusian goalkeeper Andrey Gorbunov, who produced a stunning display between the sticks.
Elsewhere in Group F, Bayern Munich overcame Valencia 2-1 at the Allianz Arena.
