Bayern Munich have it all to do on Tuesday when they will look to overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit against Porto in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The five-time champions suffered a comprehensive defeat in Portugal last week as Porto took a big step towards reaching the last four of the competition.

Bayern Munich were given a bolt from the blue last week as they saw their hopes of making it through to the semi-finals dented with a chastening 3-1 defeat at the Estadio do Dragao.

However, captain Phillip Lahm insisted after the game that the Bavarians still have a great chance of progressing.

Coach Pep Guardiola commented in the wake of his side's defeat that he was unsurprised by the outcome, but added that the tie remains far from over.

Bayern's defeat in the first leg was their second in six Champions League matches. In total, they have won three of their last six games in Europe.

While their Champions League hopes hang in the balance, normal service was resumed in the Bundesliga over the weekend as they earned a 2-0 victory over Hoffenheim. With a healthy lead at the top of the table, it would take a jaw-dropping slump in form to stop Bayern from retaining their league title.

The Bayern players will be aware that they did themselves no favours during a disastrous first leg, but the tie is certainly still alive. An early goal would change the whole tone of the encounter, while the team's passionate fans are also sure to play a big part at the Allianz Arena.

Porto

Despite their rich history in the Champions League, Porto provided much of the footballing world with a shock last week when they earned a 3-1 win over Bayern at the Estadio do Dragao.

The last time that the Portuguese outfit reached the semi-finals of the tournament was back in 2004 - when they famously lifted the trophy under Jose Mourinho.

Julen Lopetegui's men have been in sensational form since the start of 2015, winning 13 of their last 16 games. More recently, they have put together four consecutive victories in all competitions.

In this season's Champions League, Porto have failed to taste defeat in all 11 of their matches so far. They have won their previous two outings on the bounce.

One the domestic front, the 27-time Primeira Liga champions currently sit in second place in the table, three points behind Benfica. They extended their unbeaten run to 11 games at the weekend thanks to a narrow 1-0 triumph over Academica.

While many will be thinking that they already have one foot in the last four, the Porto players will be well aware that they have a huge task in seeing off Bayern during the second leg. That said, they will be likely to seal their progress if they show the same kind of dominance as they did last week.

Bayern remain severely hampered by injuries, with David Alaba, Medhi Benatia, Javi Martinez, Franck Ribery, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Arjen Robben all currently sidelined.

Meanwhile, Sinan Kurt and Claudio Pizarro are also expected to miss out for the hosts.

Jackson Martinez and Cristian Tello are carrying groin and thigh problems respectively, though they are both likely to be passed fit. However, Porto will be without suspended duo Alex Sandro and Danilo.
