Spain will be without injured midfielder Thiago Alcantara for their final World Cup qualifier against Israel on Monday evening.
The Bayern Munich ace was on the scoresheet in La Roja's 3-0 win over Albania and suffered a sprained ankle in the same game.
Thiago will now return to his club side, who this week brought in Jupp Heynckes to replace Carlo Ancelotti, ahead of their meeting with Freiburg in the Bundesliga next Saturday.
A statement from the Spanish Football Federation read: "The player carried out an MRI scan which determined the extent of the injury this morning. The RFEF medical services have already spoken to his club's medical staff to inform them of his situation."
David Silva and Gerard Pique have also been ruled out of the trip to Israel after picking up their second bookings of the campaign against Albania.
