Holger Badstuber has revealed his delight with being back on the pitch for Bayern Munich following a long battle with knee problems.
The 25-year-old had not played a game since December 2012 before starting in two wins this week, and his excitement was clear after helping Bayern to a 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg in their Bundesliga opener on Friday night.
"It is absolutely fantastic to be here and playing in front of a home crowd again. Amazing feeling," Badstuber told reporters. "To come back at the start of the Bundesliga and leave with a win feels so good.
"I've waited a long time for this and I'm extremely happy."
Badstuber, who has won 30 caps for Germany, was out of action due to two ruptures of his cruciate ligament.
