Bayern Munich are hopeful that Bastian Schweinsteiger will be fit for the European Super Cup against Chelsea on Friday.
The German international, who had foot surgery in the summer, limped off with an ankle injury during their 1-1 draw with Freiburg on Tuesday.
"Bastian Schweinsteiger did not injure himself seriously in the 1-1 draw at Freiburg," read a statement from the Bundesliga champions.
"The medical examination showed he sustained a strained ankle. On Wednesday and Thursday he will be treated intensively so that ideally he can take part in the final pre-game training on Friday."
Bayern will be without Thiago for the clash with the Europa League winners, but Javi Martinez could feature after returning from an abdominal injury.
