Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer has said that "everything" must be done to prevent Hamburger SV from being relegated this season.
Hamburg are the only team in the history of the Bundesliga never to have been relegated, but they currently sit in the bottom two of the table following a fifth consecutive league defeat on Saturday.
"I cannot imagine Hamburg in the 2. Bundesliga. That's why everything has got to be done to prevent it. It cannot be that Hamburg get relegated," Beckenbauer told Sky.
Despite their recent form and perilous league position, Hamburg chairman Carl-Edgar Jarchow has insisted that he has faith in manager Bert van Marwijk.
