Sports Mole rounds up Wednesday's results from the second round of the DFB-Pokal.

Defending champions Bayern Munich have cruised into the third round of the DFB-Pokal following a comfortable win over Hamburger SV this evening.

Robert Lewandowski rounded the keeper early on to put the visitors ahead, while Thomas Muller was denied Bayern's second after drifting offside on the 20-minute mark.

David Alaba did manage to double their advantage just before the break with a swerving shot from outside the box, before Franck Ribery put the win beyond doubt, although Pierre-Michel Lasogga added a late consolation for the hosts.

Wolfsburg survived an early scare, coming from a goal down to secure their place in the next round at the expense of Heidenheim.

The second-tier side took a surprise lead through Marc Schatterer early on, but Daniel Caligiuri and Bas Dost ensured that the Bundesliga club were ahead at the break, before a Luiz Gustavo brace sealed the win in the second half.

Meanwhile, a Roberto Firmino brace helped Hoffenheim to a 5-1 thrashing of 2. Bundesliga side FSV Frankfurt.

Sven Schipplock broke the deadlock midway through the second half after Frankfurt had defended fiercely early on, before Jannik Vestergaard and Anthony Modeste also added to the score.

Borussia Monchengladbach survived a strong finish from Eintracht Frankfurt to book their spot in the next round.

Thorgan Hazard put the visitors ahead in the opening 20 minutes before Ibrahimi Traore added a second after the break, but a late goal from Vaclav Kadlec left Monchengladbach defending nervously for the final few minutes.

Earlier this evening, Freiburg eased to a 5-2 win over 1860 Munich, while Bayer Leverkusen needed penalties to edge past fourth-tier club Magdeburg.

Results in full: 1860 Munich 2-5 Freiburg, Magdeburg 2-2 (4-5) Bayer Leverkusen, Frankfurt 1-2 Borussia Monchengladbach, Hamburger SV 1-3 Bayern Munich, Hoffenheim 5-1 FSV Frankfurt, Wolfsburg 4-1 Heidenheim.
