Arjen Robben has claimed that a patient approach was key to Bayern Munich's 5-0 triumph over Hamburger SV on Friday night.
Pep Guardiola's side made the perfect start to the defence of their title with an emphatic win on the opening night of the new campaign and Robben, who was starting for the first time since tearing an abdominal muscle in March, was delighted to contribute to such an impressive display.
"We got exactly what we wanted. We wanted to lay down a marker today and show that we're ready," the Dutchman told the Bundesliga website. "It wasn't easy because they played really defensively but scoring five goals at the end of the day is always good.
"On a personal level I'm just really happy to be back out on the pitch. I need to get back into my rhythm and to do that I just need games. We had to be patient on the one hand today, but on the other we needed to attack aggressively too and try to find the gaps."
Bayern return to action with a trip to Hoffenheim next Saturday.
