Bayern Munich vice-captain Bastian Schweinsteiger has revealed that he will require surgery in order to recover from the niggling ankle injury that he has been playing with.
Schweinsteiger sat out the start of the season after an operation over the summer, but has admitted that it is still causing him a lot of pain.
"The last few weeks have been really painful for me again," Bundesliga.com quotes Schweinsteiger as saying.
"I've been really trying, but it's come to a point where surgery is the only option. I hope that I can be completely pain-free after going under the knife and just get back to playing football."
There is no date as yet for the midfielder's second operation.
