A first-half brace from Xherdan Shaqiri helped Bayern Munich to a 4-0 win over Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.
The match started in typical fashion for the hosts as they got on the ball straight away to patiently probe in the Freiburg half, although there were no real chances in the opening 10 minutes.
Bayern took the lead in the 19th minute, but surprisingly it was against the run of play following a spell of possession for Freiburg. Dante headed powerfully and low from a left-wing cross by Diego Contento.
Just as with the first goal, Bayern's second came following a spell of pressure from Freiburg. There was fortune, too, as Shaqiri's strike from the edge of the box deflected past Oliver Baumann.
Then, with five minutes to play of the first half Shaqiri made it two for him and three for Bayern with a close-range finish following a fine pass from Toni Kroos.
Freiburg were unfortunate not to have a goal back before the break, however, as a goal from Admir Mehmedi was incorrectly adjudged offside.
With 10 minutes gone in the second half Thomas Muller had a good chance to score, but attempted lob Baumann after pressing to win the ball did not come down in time and went over.
Then on the hour mark Contento was guilty of a glaring miss, heading over from just six yards out, but with his side three to the good it mattered little.
There was to be a final goal and it went to striker Claudio Pizarro, who took on two men in the box before finishing with a powerful low strike.
