Sevilla have sent Andalusian rivals Real Betis a step closer to relegation by beating them 2-0 at the Estadio Benito Villamarin in La Liga.
The game sparked into life just short of the half-hour mark when Juan Carlos brought down an opposition player in the box, with the referee awarding a penalty kick to visitors and subsequently dismissing the midfielder.
Kevin Gameiro smartly converted the penalty to fire Sevilla into the lead, putting the ball out of the reach of Antonio Adan.
Gameiro should have sealed the points on 54 minutes when he received a killer pass, but he miskicked his resulting effort and Adan managed to capture the ball.
The Frenchman did redeem himself soon after, however, slotting the ball past the keeper with a brilliant finish to give the Rojiblancos a decisive second.
