Birmingham City midfielder Stephen Gleeson has warned "excited" supporters that there is still a long way to go before they can contemplate promotion to the Premier League.
Victory over Bolton Wanderers in midweek has helped lift the Blues into the division's automatic promotion zone.
With just a quarter of the season played, however, Gleeson insists that the squad are determined to take it one game at a time in pursuit of earning a return back to the big time.
"The fans deserve to be excited, they have stuck with us throughout the year," Gleeson is quoted as saying by the Birmingham Mail. "But we are keeping our feet on the ground, if it happens this year, it happens this year.
"We are a tight group, with a bit a luck we can keep going to the next international break, when we'll see where we are and assess it. We've just gone in to the changing room and no-one's mentioned it at all, we've just done our cool down and no-one said anything about it.
"It's October and you don't get promoted in October, if we are there in February or March we will probably start talking about it - but there's a long way to go."
Birmingham return to action at the weekend when they face Hull City at the KC Stadium.
