Preview: Birmingham City vs. Millwall

Sports Mole peers ahead to Tuesday night's Championship match as hard-to-beat Birmingham City host struggling Millwall.

Gary Rowett's Birmingham City are yet to suffer defeat in the Championship since the turn of the year, but their faint hopes of mounting a playoff charge appear to be over following four straight draws.

The Blues sit 11th in the table, which is far better than when Rowett took over at the end of October, but 12 points separate them from the top six as they prepare to host struggling Millwall on Tuesday night.

Birmingham have managed just two goals in the four recent draws, with one of those coming at Fulham on Saturday as David Cotterill's somewhat fluky free kick found the back of the net to earn them a point.

They are actually closer to the bottom three than the top six, but they would need to go on a poor run of form to be dragged into the scrap at the bottom.

Rowett has no new injury problems and could include Neal Eardley after he was recalled from his loan at Leyton Orient. Michael Morrison remains injured, but his ankle injury isn't as bad as first feared.

Millwall come into the game in the relegation zone, two points from safety after a hugely disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The Lions missed out on the chance to climb out of the bottom three as sides around them also suffered defeat on matchday 29.

The manner of the defeat will hurt manager Ian Holloway most as he watched his side concede two unanswered goals after Huddersfield were reduced to 10 men not long into the second half.

It was their first defeat for three weeks and made it one win in 10 games in all competitions for the strugglers.

Sid Nelson sat out through suspension against the Terriers and will serve the last of his three-game ban at St Andrew's, while Lee Martin could be back in the squad.

Birmingham are unbeaten in their last nine games against Millwall, scoring 28 goals in the streak. In fact, the Lions haven't won at St Andrew's since 1968 and suffered a 3-1 defeat in the September reverse.
