Ruben Rochina scored his first goals in a Blackburn Rovers shirt last night but has insisted that his side's victory was the most important aspect of the evening.
Rochina scored twice in the opening five minutes at Ewood Park, while strike partner David Goodwillie added a third in the seventh minute as Rovers defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 in the Carling Cup.
After the match Rochina revealed that he was pleased to get his name on the score-sheet and hopes that his team can now go on a winning run.
"I never thought we would get off to such a good start. It was great for me and I was very happy to score two goals, but the most important thing is the victory for the team," the 20-year-old told the club's official website.
"As players, we want to have winning mentalities and this result will hopefully kick start our season.
"It is important that we now take this win into the Everton game on Saturday."
Rochina joined Rovers in January of this year from Barcelona.
