Blackburn Rovers managing director Derek Shaw has revealed that the club were happy with the money they received for Scott Dann.
The defender left Ewood Park during the January transfer window, moving to Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Although Shaw admits that Rovers were disappointed to see Dann leave the club, the wages he was earning meant they were left with little choice.
"We were not happy to lose Scott but it's been well documented that he was a Premiership-earning player and we had to try and cut that back," Shaw is quoted as saying by the Lancashire Telegraph.
"We've got some cash up front, we will receive further payments if Palace stay up, and if Palace do not stay up we are covered if they go back to the Premier League with payments. We also have payments over games.
"We are as happy as we can be with what we've got for Scott. With the sale and the money coming in, we are heading in the right direction."
Blackburn are currently eighth in the Championship, ahead of their visit to the Riverside Stadium on Saturday afternoon where they will face Middlesbrough.
