Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has paid tribute to the "superb" Rudy Gestede after the striker kept up his goalscoring form in tonight's 1-1 draw at Cardiff City.
The 26-year-old struck a stoppage-time equaliser against his former club - who sold him for just £200,000 13 months ago - after Sean Morrison opened the scoring on 84 minutes.
Gestede, who now has 15 goals this season, reportedly courted interest from Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Swansea City during January, and Bowyer is delighted to have kept the in-form marksman.
"I am really pleased for Rudy. He didn't play as much as he would have liked when he was here and that goal would have meant a lot to him," Bowyer told Sky Sports News.
"He has been great for our club and long may he score goals for us. He has been superb.
"It was a relief when the window closed and he was still with us, there was a fair bit of interest in him, and hopefully FIFA will look at getting rid of the mid-season window as it is a nightmare."
Rovers sit 10 points adrift of the playoff places in the Championship.
