Steve Kean has said that Fabrice Muamba's cardiac arrest on Saturday brought back memories of Blackburn Rovers player Gael Givet's heart scare earlier this season.
Muamba collapsed during Bolton Wanderers' FA Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and received medical attention on the pitch.
Givet was pulled off the pitch when his heart rate soared to 300 beats per minute during a game with Sunderland in December.
"We were fortunate to get him off the pitch before he collapsed. We felt we got away with it there," Kean said.
"We stuck a heart monitor on him and it was going through the roof. The doc tried to calm it down but couldn't."
Givet later underwent surgery and returned to action three weeks later.
Muamba remains in intensive care, where he has shown some small signs of improvement.
