Borussia Dortmund have revealed that they will be without the services of Marco Reus "for the rest of the year".
The 25-year-old damaged his right ankle during yesterday's 2-2 draw with SC Paderborn in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp conceded after the final whistle that the injury could result in "a bad diagnosis" and scans have now confirmed a tear to one of Reus's ligaments.
"The injury will rule the 25-year-old Germany international out for the rest of the year. Reus could return to training at the start of 2015 when BVB begin their preparations for the second half of the season," read a statement on the club's official website.
Reus, who has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool, has scored six goals in all competitions this season.
