Marco Reus has admitted that it was a "step in the right direction" as Borussia Dortmund recorded a 2-0 win over Mainz 05.
After going four games without a win in all competitions and losing 5-1 to Bayern Munich before the international break, the pressure was on Thomas Tuchel's side to bounce back and Reus was delighted to collect all three points.
"The second goal was important because otherwise we would have got nervy at the back," the Germany international, who opened the scoring at the Coface Arena, told the Bundesliga website. "We were camped really deep, so it was great when [Henrikh Mkhitaryan] scored.
"We had problems with our build-up play because Mainz were playing so well. We knew it'd be a battle and that we would have to win the second balls. At the end of the day, we're very happy with the win. It's the first step in the right direction."
Dortmund now switch their focus to Thursday's Europa League meeting with Qabala.
