Borussia Dortmund closed the gap on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich to eight points thanks to their 1-0 victory away at Bayer Leverkusen this afternoon.
However, the encounter was marred by a controversial moment that resulted in the game being suspended for nine minutes.
It all happened after Dortmund had broken the deadlock in the 64th minute. BVB midfielder Matthias Ginter took a free kick from the wrong spot and the move ended with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sweeping home his 31st goal of the campaign.
Leverkusen head coach Roger Schmidt was incensed by the failure of referee Felix Zwayer to pull the play back, so much so that he was sent off by the match official for his protest.
Schmidt refused to leave the dugout, though, and so following much debate, Zwayer headed down the tunnel instead and did not return until the Leverkusen boss had budged.
When play resumed Dortmund held out to secure all three points.
