Borussia Dortmund reach the DFB-Pokal semi-finals as they rally to defeat Hoffenheim 3-2 after extra time at Signal Iduna Park.

Borussia Dortmund have overcome a 2-1 deficit at half time to claim a 3-2 victory over Hoffenheim to clinch a place in the last four of the DFB-Pokal this evening.

The home side had the first chance at goal as Henrikh Mkhitaryan won the ball in midfield and raided towards the edge of the box before he unleashed a powerful drive, which was well saved by Oliver Baumann.

Dortmund went ahead in the 19th minute when they won a corner and from Jakub Blaszczykowski's delivery from the right Neven Subotic met the ball on the volley and his effort squeezed past Baumann at the near post.

However, Hoffenheim drew level immediately as Sebastian Rudy raced down the flank and lifted a cross to the back post where he found the run of Kevin Volland, and the forward made no mistake firing an effort past Mitchell Langerak with a left-footed strike.

The visitors completed the turnaround when they took the lead as Subotic failed to control the ball and allowed Roberto Firmino to race through on goal. The striker showed composure to chip his effort over Langerak and into the net.

In the second half, Dortmund went straight on the attack and almost levelled the scores when Blaszczykowski powered a low cross into the box, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could only guide his effort past the post.

Minutes later, Ilkay Gundogan and Shinji Kagawa played a sublime one-two to unlock the Hoffenheim defence, but the German midfielder could only blast his strike straight into the arms of Baumann.

Dortmund finally got their equaliser when Eric Durm raided down the flank and lifted a cross into the box, which Aubameyang managed to meet with a thumping header to find the net from close range.

Aubameyang almost put his side back in front in the contest when he collected Mkhitaryan's pass and flicked the ball with the outside of his foot towards the near post, but Baumann made the vital stop.

Baumann kept Hoffenheim level late in the game as Subotic nearly added his second of the match when he rose highest from Blaszczykowski's corner, but the keeper tipped his header over the bar.

Both teams threatened towards the end of normal time as Firmino raided forward to chase a long ball and managed to slide a pass into the feet of Eugen Polanski, but Langerak made the stop from the midfielder's drive.

At the other end of the pitch Blaszczykowski drilled an effort towards the bottom corner, but Baumann dived to his right to parry the ball clear to keep the hosts at bay at the end of 90 minutes.

In the first half half of extra time, Subotic lifted a pass down the middle of the pitch for Mkhitaryan, who controlled the ball and blasted an effort towards the top corner, but his strike went over the bar.

Dortmund finally got the breakthrough in the 108th minute, as Sebastian Kehl collected the ball 30 yards from goal and drilled a strike on the half-volley which sailed past the outstretched hand of Baumann into the top corner.

The visitors put the pressure on in the dying minutes, but Jurgen Klopp's men held out to earn their place in the last four of the competition.
