AC Milan have reportedly emerged as surprise contenders to make a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
The confirmation of Gundogan's decision to extend his Dortmund contract only arrived last week after months of speculation suggested that the Germany international was being targeted by the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Arsenal.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the 24-year-old remains unsure about his future with the club and that AC Milan are considering matching Dortmund's €25m (£17.7m) valuation.
According to the report, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani could launch the bid soon as the club look to add experience to their midfield following a frustrating campaign.
Gundogan's new deal with Dortmund expires in 2017.
